East to West Ireland Garden Tour – 6 days
Come and enjoy an Arbutus Garden Tour. A unique new tour which offers you the opportunity to explore, in good company, those garden paths less well trodden. The tours have been carefully designed for small groups and will provide you with a journey of garden exploration and discovery.
Join us as we take you on a journey across Ireland. You will experience the transformations in landscape unique to this island as we travel from East to West. Starting in Dublin, the country’s bustling capitol, across the Shannon, to the West, the Atlantic Coast and on to the wilds of Connemara. The gardens that you will explore along the way will amaze you in their diversity of character, features, setting and not least their owners.
In the East: The Dillon Garden
In the West: Kylemore Abbey and the Victorian Walled Garden
The tour begins with the acclaimed Helen Dillon’s Dublin Garden, an intriguing delight in horticultural and artistic features. In the heart of the Irish midlands Birr Castle and Demesne will enthrall you with its history, Giant Telescope and collections. When you reach Connemara, the setting for Kylemore Abbey, you will have witnessed what a love of landscape and a beautiful woman can inspire in extreme gardening.
These are only some of the gardens you will explore as along with those already mentioned, you will be visiting other equally stunning Irish Gardens, many privately owned. All have distinct and unique features that you would not find anywhere else and that make this East to West Irish Garden Tour so interesting.
We will take you on this journey in the company of a small group of like-minded enthusiasts. You can relax in the knowledge that transport will be provided by an experienced and friendly family run coach company. You will be able to luxuriate in specially selected accommodation. The tour will be guided by the Arbutus Garden Tours’ owner, Branka, who has been working in Irelands gardens for over fifteen years.
You will be able to meet many of the garden owners themselves and tours will be offered wherever possible.
This carefully designed five day tour will also feature two renowned Irish Horticulturists as guest speakers on two of the evenings.
